For our writing this week we wrote recounts about our holidays. I put the most thought into my first paragraph. Whaea Rob said that she was impressed with the detail that I had added.

During school holidays I have a lot of energy. I’m a bit tired to start, by the second week I’ve got most of my energy back. In the holidays my dad sometimes drove me to the gym. I also played tennis with Joseph and Joseph’s mum came to pick me up and then she drove us to the Domain and we were there because Joseph and I had a play date.

I’m also very excited for the next holidays because I’m going to the gokarts and I’m also excited for after the holidays because I’m going to be year six.

This week we have been doing short writes about volcanoes.

Volcanoes are very dangerous and they can kill someone in seconds. Even water does not affect it. Its like a water proof suit. The volcano in Hawaii has erupted. And I couldn’t see it that well so I used binoculars and then I could see it very clearly. Suddenly the mountain was erupting and lots of people were freaking out. They were losing their minds. They were yelling like“ahh yaa”.

We have been researching the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This is the Olympics tennis. Before tennis players used rackets people would use the palm of their hands to hit the ball back and forth.

Tennis has had an on-and-off history in the Olympics. It was first played in the 1896 Athens Olympics but was taken out after the 1924 Olympics because of disagreements about player rules.

Tennis came back as a demo sport in 1968 and 1984, but it wasn’t a full sport again until the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Since then, many of the best tennis players in the world have competed.

New Zealand’s first Olympic tennis appearance was in 1912, but they didn’t play again until 1988.

Anthony Wilding was the first New Zealand tennis player, competing in 1912 as part of the Australasian team.

Belinda Cordwell was the first female tennis player from New Zealand, competing in the 1988 Olympics.
